The pearl of Rouergue and a legendary stop on the Way of St. James, Conques is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This medieval village clinging to the mountainside overlooks the Dourdou Valley and captivates visitors with its harmony of golden stone, Romanesque art, and spirituality.

Sainte-Foy Abbey Church
A masterpiece of 11th-century Romanesque art, Sainte-Foy Abbey is famous for its Last Judgment tympanum, a monumental sculpture unique in Europe.
The interior, bathed in light filtered through contemporary stained glass windows by Pierre Soulages, impresses with its sober architecture and powerful spiritual symbolism.
The crypt houses the reliquary of Sainte Foy, a young martyr from Agen who has been venerated since the 9th century.

The Treasure of Sainte-Foy
This exceptional museum houses one of Europe’s richest collections of medieval gold and silverwork. Visitors can admire the reliquary statue of Saint Foy (9th century), a true masterpiece of gold and precious stones, as well as crosses, enamels, and liturgical pieces of rare finesse.

Medieval alleys
Strolling through the narrow streets of Conques is like stepping into a picture postcard setting: half-timbered houses, corbelled windows, artisan shops, and ancient fountains.

The Roman Bridge over the Dourdou River
Below the village, the old medieval bridge has spanned the Dourdou River since the 14th century. It allowed pilgrims traveling from Figeac to cross over to the abbey church.
This site offers a spectacular view of Conques, especially at sunset, when the facades take on golden hues.

The Bancarel Belvedere
A 10-minute walk from the center, the Bancarel viewpoint offers an exceptional panoramic view of the village and the Dourdou valley.
